The sequel to Capcom's 1987 smash hit fighting game Street Fighter released on the arcades and ported to all major home computers and consoles!
Story/Gameplay: Fight your opponents in one-on-one close quarter combat in a series of best-two-out-of-three matches. The objective of each round is to deplete the opponent's vitality before the timer runs out. If both opponents knock each other out at the same time or the timer runs out with both fighters having an equal amount of vitality left, then a "double KO" or "draw game" is declared and additional rounds will be played until sudden death. Street Fighter II differs from its predecessor due to the selection of multiple playable characters, each with their distinct fighting styles and special moves. The game was credited for starting the fighting game boom during the 1990s!
Graphics/Sound: The Super Nintendo (SNES) version features very good graphics and sounds much like the original arcades version, but compared to the PC Engine/Turbograpfx (or even to the Megadrive/Genesis in some screens!) I would say that its graphically inferior! Well what I mean by taht is, I've noticed a few more colors being used on th PC-Engine, and also the sprites being of a bit better detail! The game on the SNES is well designed though, featuring the backgrounds and the character models of the original. The animation is fluid and fast. The sound features digitized sfx and great in game tunes. Technicaly a very good game here I believe, although I was expecting a few things more here due to the hardware superiority of the SNES compared to the Megadrive and PC-Engine/Turbograpfx!
