Driver can be considered as the predecessor of the 3D Grand Theft Auto series. It is an action racing game created by GT Interactive and published by Reflections for the PSOne in 1999
'Story/Gameplay: You are Tanner, an outlaw guy who is the best driver of a crime syndicate. You are called to eliminate all of your foes, steal and drive cars, avoid police forces, kill bad guys. The story takes place in Miami, San Franscisco, Los Angeles and New York. You can drive your car to its limits by performing dangerous manuevers, jumps, hits etc. Apart from the foes you encounter, you must be careful of the incoming traffic of each city so as not to get killed in a road accident.
Graphics/Sound: The game features fantastic graphics. The cities look so life-like and the car damage shown is absolutely gorgeous. Daylight changes along the way giving us the impression of real-life day and night conditions. The sound FX and the music are good. Car engines, explosions, crashes are all shown (and sound) almost real. Gameplay can be tough since you have to perform difficult moves with your car but the game will give you the opportunity to learn step-by-step all the abilities you can take advantage of. Driver is a great game for those who love action racing games with great presentation.
