|Ghosts N' Goblins is another hit game converted from the coin-op arcades for almost all retro machines. The NES version was developed in 1985 and it is the oldest of all.|
| You 're a famous knight, named Arthur, who must defeat zombies, demons and other undead creatures in order to rescue your love, Princess Prin Prin. Your quest isn't easy at all, as the enemies keeps coming from ground to air in eight directions! The game is a typical eight-way arcade platform. You climb over ladders to reach higher grounds either to kill certain enemies or find a better weapon/armor to use. Along the way you can pick up new weapons, bonuses and extra suits of armor that can help in this task. You may jump over incoming enemies (zombies etc) or even ducking to avoid flying ghosts and deadly birds! You must also jump over deadly pits too. Once you lose a life, the game takes you back a few meters which sometimes is frustrating. The game is often considered very difficult by arcade standards and is commonly regarded as one of the most difficult games ever released.|
The NES version is as close as possible to the original arcade version, limited to its capabilities (i.e. missing a few levels, background details of lower detail etc), but overall the game looks and feels good.
The in-game tune and sound FX are taken from the original coin-op, but limited to NES sound capabilities.
