Nintendo's most popular mascot character of all time, Mario, made his debut in a 3D environment with the launch of Nintendo 64 in 1996. The fat Italian plumber who had previously starred in so many remarkable 2D platformers headlined Super Mario 64 in a revolutionary platformer genre with free-roaming analog degrees of freedom, large open-ended areas and true 3D polygons as opposed to the 2D sprites of past Mario titles. The game features colorful 3D worlds, cartoon look and clever little puzzles!
The player controls Mario through several levels. Each level is an enclosed world in which the player is free to roam in all directions and discover the environment without time limits. The worlds are filled with enemies that attack Mario as well as friendly creatures that provide assistance, offer information, or ask a favor.
The graphics are awesome with colorful 3D enviroments and smooth animations! The sound features nice music tunes (being new interpretations of the familiar melodies from earlier games) and lots of digitized voice dialogues. Note that dialogues and some sounds differ between the Japanese and English versions. The game was amazing when it first released and even nowadays it's still amazing and fun to play.
