Tennis Cup 2
|Developer / Publisher||Loriciels|
|Media||1 x |
|Nice follow-up to Loriciel's tennis game Tennis Cup from 1990, released on Amiga, Atari ST, DOS and Amstrad CPC+ and the Amstrad GX4000 console. Tennis Cup 2 certainly not the kind of tennis game to pick up and play with ease, but its nice visuals and the split-screen gameplay offered was a certain good asset for its success.|
|Gameplay has been nicely improved from its successor (Tennis Cup), so now the player can produce good strokes and winners more often from the baseline, than just from the net. Game options and graphics are very similar but a few animations have been added, and, of course, they are as nice as in the first game. Much like its predecessor, the split-screen gameplay is a gem, offering exciting action without confusing players in two-player mode. In short, Tennis Cup II is another good job by Loriciel's lead designer Dominique Sablons, offering smooth gameplay and fun, fixing many of the weak points from the earlier game and improving a bit on the strong points. |
The CPC+ features nice graphics, nicely detailed courts, vivid colors and smooth sprite animations. Even the split-screen is glitch free and stable! The ball movement is also good enough, the depth perspective reasonable but not perfect.
The sound is good, featuring a nice introductory tune and the usual whacks and swings of tennis as well as a crowd cheering sound when points earned.
